Elina is a 2nd year student, reading European Administration at the Faculty of European Studies at Universitatea “Babeş-Bolyai” din Cluj-Napoca (“Babes-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca), Romania. Elina loves her studies, with subjects including economics, constitutional and administrative law, European Union law, and European public policies and institutions. She’s also a volunteer in the European students’ society of the Faculty. Elina looks forward to contributing to the Young European Ambassadors’ initiative.

Robin-Cristian Bucur-Portase

Robin is a medical student at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” in Bucharest, Romania. As a Charlemagne Youth Prize alumnus and a Cambridge Research Spotlight Scholar, he is a passionate changemaker and STEM reseacher. Having partaken in various European activities, Robin is eager to work for the improvement of the European Union and the Eastern Partnership, through his role as a Young European Ambassador.

Ionela Rusti

Ionela is currently pursuing her second Master’s degree in International Politics at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, having already attained a Bachelor of Arts in European Studies and a Master of Arts in Cultural Diplomacy and International Relations from Universitatea “Babeş-Bolyai” din Cluj-Napoca (“Babes-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca), Romania. She has always been passionate about youth work, volunteering and teaching. Peace and security is a topic of great interest to Ionela and in her future work, she aims to explore this field by either pursuing a PhD or by building a career path in the direction of peacebuilding. Andrei-Dragoș Tarța

  • Current residence: Cluj-Napoca, Romania
Andrei-Dragoș Tarța, for short Dragoș, is in his final year of a degree in European Administration at the Faculty of European Studies. He is a problem solver at heart and his love for travel, history and geography makes him the curious and pragmatic person he is today. Andrei-Dragoș is interested in volunteer work, history, geography, world politics, economics, travel, photography, music, and cooking. He looks forward to applying his experiences and attributes to his role as a Young European Ambassador.

Paula Gonçalves

  • Current residence: Lisbon, Portugal
Paula is a final-year Bachelor’s student in Law at the Universidade de Lisboa (University of Lisbon). She spent the last semester in Paris for her Erasmus+ experience at Université Panthéon-Assas (Université Paris II). Paula was the president of the LisboMUN Association, a youth-led organisation in Portugal, engaging young people in relevant international affairs. Her main interests are in the field of international relations, refugees, international cooperation and human rights. Paula enjoys travelling and meeting new people.

Gonçalo Ferreira

  • Current residence: Porto, Portugal
Gonçalo holds a Bachelor degree in International Relations and is currently in his final year of a Master’s degree program in Security and Justice. Being deeply involved in humanitarian causes, he enjoys applying his professional experience at Amnesty International and is now volunteering at the renowned NGO in the field of Youth and Education, where he frequently interacts with young people, promoting campaigns and working as a facilitator in offline events. He is a very passionate person in all aspects of his life and he hopes to contribute to a better world through the Young European Ambassadors’ initiative.

Xander Nijmeijer

  • Current residence: Rotterdam, The Netherlands
Xander is an undergraduate student based in Rotterdam, majoring in international business, law and tax law. He currently holds a board position at the Dutch liberal youth organisation, promoting involvement in politics amongst Dutch youth. He is also active as a district council member in Rotterdam, where he defends the interests of young citizens in public policies. He strongly believes that the only way to solve the challenges of our time is through international cooperation.

Merijn Hermens

  • Current residence: Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Merijn is an Erasmus Mundus Master’s candidate in Central & East European, Russian & Eurasian Studies at the Universities of Tartu and Glasgow. She will graduate with a specialisation in Caucasus Studies in Political Science after spending part of her studies in Tbilisi. Some of her favourite topics include geopolitics, human rights and education. Merijn looks forward to applying her studies to her work as a Young European Ambassador.

Paula Patrīcija Avotiņa

  • Current residence: Latvia, Riga
Paula is currently in her third-year, working towards a Bachelor degree in International Relations. Paula has participated in two Erasmus+ exchange programs and has been active in the field of international politics since 2022. Paula is a Climate and Environment Advisor to the United Nations Youth Delegation in Latvia, is a member of the NGO – ESN Riga, and was also a member of the NGO Bridge Europe Maastricht during her Erasmus exchange program in the Netherlands. Paula’s academic interests include climate change, international development and women’s rights.

Vittorio Cascone

  • Current residence: Italy, Rome
Vittorio is a young student of Law at Libera Università Internazionale degli studi Sociali Guido Carli (LUISS). Vittorio has always had an interest in youth policies, especially while cooperating with his local Mayor. He has been engaged in volunteering in a variety of local organisations and charities. He has always had a passion for travelling and the opportunity of the Erasmus+ in the first semester of 2022 opened for him new horizons to become involved in projects of the European Union. Vittorio looks forward to continuing this work in his role as a Young European Ambassador.

Michele D’Orazio

  • Current residence: Fara San Martino, Italy
Michele is in his third-year of a Bachelor degree, majoring in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. He considers that cooperation is strength, and diversity is a source of wealth. He would like to work in the European Diplomatic Corps because he loves becoming familiar with new cultures, travelling, and meeting new people. Michele knows it may be taken for granted, but these three things turn him into a different person every time ‘he gets in contact with them’. Michele looks forward to advancing his career through positive contribution in his role as a Young European Ambassador.

Ileana Di Martino

  • Current residence: Georgia, Tbilisi
Ileana is passionate about Eastern European countries. Indeed, she is looking forward to completing her Master’s degree in Eastern European studies and research. Ileana is currently performing a traineeship in Tbilisi for the European integration of Georgia. In her spare time, she travels as much as possible, enjoys the beautiful mountains of her country as well as its very famous cuisine – khinkali!

Alessandro Marcia

  • Current residence: Belgium, Brussels
Alessandro is a PhD Researcher and Lecturer of EU law at Maastricht University. He is also an activist and a content creator, covering EU and LGBTIQ+ issues. Alessandro holds a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Bologna and an LL.M. in EU law from Université libre de Bruxelles. He speaks Italian, English, and French

Prodromos Tzounopoulos

Prodromos is an undergraduate student of International and European Studies at the Πανεπιστήμιο Μακεδονίας (University of Macedonia) in Thessaloniki, Greece. Prodromos, having been selected by the Council of Europe, was the Youth Delegate from Greece to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the CoE for the year 2022. He is a founding member and the current President of “Dialogue of Youth Kavala – Local Youth Network”, a local youth organisation in Kavala, Greece, and a member of the Municipal Youth Council of Kavala. Prodromos loves music, travelling, meeting new people, and exploring the world.

Anastasia Papapetrou

Anastasia is an undergraduate student at the Πάντειο Πανεπιστήμιο Κοινωνικών & Πολιτικών Επιστημών (Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences), in the Department of Public Administration, majoring in Economics. At the same time, she is the SDG Campus Coordinator at Panteion University of Political and Social Sciences and has also been elected to the Organising Committee of SDSN Youth Greece. This website is managed by the EU-funded Regional Communication Programme for the Eastern Neighbourhood ('EU NEIGHBOURS east’), which complements and supports the communication of the Delegations of the European Union in the Eastern partner countries, and works under the guidance of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, and the European External Action Service. EU NEIGHBOURS east is implemented by a GOPA PACE-led consortium. It is part of the larger Neighbourhood Communication Programme (2020-2024) for the EU's Eastern and Southern Neighbourhood, which also includes 'EU NEIGHBOURS south’ project that runs the EU Neighbours portal.
