In December, the Moldovan public association CASMED launched the initiative ‘I have the right to be healthy’ (“E dreptul meu să fiu sănătos”) in partnership with the Ministries of Health and Education, the European Union, the World Health Organisation and Switzerland.
The national initiative ‘I have the right to be healthy’ aims to raise awareness and promote a healthy lifestyle among adolescents aged 15-19, including young refugees and adolescents with chronic diseases. The initiative will promote the importance of regular medical check-ups, responsible attitudes towards one’s own health, and avoiding self-diagnosis.
Between December 2025 and June 2026, adolescents, educators and parents will be able to participate in a series of thematic webinars on adolescent development, physical and emotional health, nutrition and the risks of ignoring preventive check-ups. The project will also hold educational master classes for young people with chronic diseases, focused on monitoring their health.
To motivate young people, a national video competition, ‘I have the right to be healthy’, will be launched. In addition, as part of World Health Day, educational institutions, in collaboration with medical institutions and other key participants, will hold events in the format of Check-up Days. Young people will be able to participate in interactive quizzes, themed challenges and other activities on social media.
The ‘I have the right to be healthy’ initiative invites educational institutions, teenagers aged 15-19 and their parents, and youth organisations and institutions to join the campaign.
At the beginning of 2025, young people aged 15-19 accounted for 30.5% of the population of the Republic of Moldova. According to data from the Ministry of Health, the prevalence of chronic diseases, vision problems, eating disorders and emotional disorders is growing among young people.
