Moldova: 383 companies receive EU-backed grants so far this year

During the period April-June 2026, the EU-supported Moldovan Organisation for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA) disbursed grants totalling 67.85 million Moldovan lei (MDL) to 275 beneficiary companies. Cumulatively, since the beginning of the year, the total value of grants transferred has reached MDL 91.38 million, supporting 383 enterprises.

At the same time, 165 investment projects were approved for financing in the second quarter, with a total grant value of MDL 86.9 million. These projects are expected to generate investments estimated at MDL 172.5 million, contributing to business development and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy.

The companies that have received grants currently provide nearly 1,300 jobs, while the implementation of the approved investment projects is expected to create approximately 800 additional jobs, strengthening the labour market and stimulating local economic development.

An analysis of the funded sectors shows that the manufacturing industry continues to attract the largest share of investments, accounting for approximately 33% of the total. It is followed by the agricultural sector with around 18%, and the information and communications technology (ICT) sector with approximately 15%. The remaining funding is distributed across sectors such as accommodation and food service activities, education, recreation and leisure, energy production and supply, transport and storage, healthcare and social assistance, as well as other service activities.

The projects supported through ODA-managed grant programmes primarily focus on modernising and streamlining production processes, implementing energy efficiency solutions, digitalising businesses, developing innovative products and services, and supporting the establishment and expansion of enterprises.

The grants are financed from the state budget, with the support of the European Union through the Reform Agenda for the Republic of Moldova, the World Bank Group through the Organisation for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA) and the Competitiveness Enhancement Project Implementation Unit (CEPIU), and through the ‘Strong Businesses and Communities for Moldova (SBC) Project – Increasing the Energy Resilience of SMEs in the Republic of Moldova component’.
