EU4Youth supports Regional Youth Forum in Moldova

On 20 May, the Moldovan city of Ștefan Vodă hosted a landmark event for the region’s youth sector – the Regional Youth Forum 2025.

Over 60 young participants, joined by local authorities, NGOs, and civic initiatives, engaged in open dialogue about the situation in their communities, highlighting both challenges and potential solutions.

Discussions focused on how to shift from simple youth consultation to real co-decision-making, and how young people’s ideas could become strategic investments for the future of their localities.

At the end of the event, youth delegates proposed four key priorities for the ‘Youth as Decision-Makers 2030’ Regional Cooperation Agenda:

  • Increasing the number of young people employed in public administration, targeting at least 30% by 2030;
  • Modernising infrastructure in rural schools, aiming for at least 55% of schools to be upgraded by 2030;
  • Boosting the recruitment of young health specialists in local communities, with a goal of at least 15% by 2030;
  • Establishing a network of active, engaged, and present environmental volunteers, reaching a minimum of 230 volunteers by 2030.

These proposals will be forwarded and developed into concrete action plans and recommendations for local authorities and other decision-makers.

The event was organised by RENASTEREA NGO, a grant beneficiary of the ‘EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment’ project, co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and implemented by GIZ.
