Vacancy: electricity distribution system expert at the Energy Community Secretariat


The Energy Community Secretariat has launched a call for applications for the position of Electricity Distribution System Expert, based in Vienna, Austria.

The role focuses on supporting the implementation of EU electricity distribution legislation, strengthening the role of distribution system operators, and advancing competitive and consumer-centred electricity markets across the Energy Community.

The call is open to citizens of either EU Member States or of any Contracting Party to the Treaty, including Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. Applicants should have a relevant university degree and at least five years of professional experience in the European electricity market, including three years in electricity distribution, and excellent written and oral command of English.

The position is offered under a three-year contract, renewable subject to conditions, with a tax-exempt salary of €6,735 per month. 

The expected start date is May 2026, and applications close on 1 March 2026.

The Energy Community, co-chaired by the European Commission, is an international organisation established in 2005/2006 that brings together the EU with neighbouring countries, with the aim of creating a single, competitive and sustainable energy market. It requires its members to comply with EU legislation in the fields of energy, the environment and competition.
