Generation XXI by Municipality of Portimão invites volunteers to Portugal: Ukrainians and Moldovans can apply


The Generation XXI project contributes to the sustainable development of the local community in Portimão, Portugal. Activities are linked to its main areas of intervention: the Youth Information Centre, the Pedagogical Farm, the Museum, the Tourism Unit, Lugar do Rio – Portimão Youth Space, and the Veterinary Medical Services Division. The project will host three ESC volunteers: one at the Museum, one alternating between Tourism and Lugar do Rio, and one between the Pedagogical Farm and Veterinary Services.

The volunteering opportunity is a total of 39 weeks during the period from 1 October 2026 to 30 June 2027. The Municipality of Portimão will provide volunteers with fully equipped accommodation with internet access. At the beginning of each month, volunteers will receive an amount of 310 euros for food allowance and pocket money.

All selected volunteers will need to have a pre-departure training. This will include online meetings with the volunteer. There will also be at least two interim training related to the volunteer project and several evaluation moments, as well as a final evaluation of the project. Volunteers will additionally participate in the training provided by the Portuguese National Agency.

Priority is given to volunteers with few opportunities or in situations of long-term unemployment. Volunteers are selected from the list of volunteers registered in the European Solidarity Corps. The volunteer must be dynamic, motivated and enjoy working in an international and multicultural, responsible and friendly group. The project also aims to have and promote gender equality. Young people from Moldova and Ukraine are eligible to apply.

The deadline for applications is 31 August 2026. 

Generation XXI (Geração XXI) is a municipal youth support office and community hub located in Portimão, Portugal. Managed by the local municipality, it serves as a central resource for young people looking for local initiatives, training, and international volunteer opportunities.
