The project ‘Improving Emergency Response Capacities to Natural and Man-made Disasters in Small Communities across the Black Sea Basin Region’ (IMPACT+), co-funded by the European Union, has officially launched its e-learning platform Be prepared for emergencies.
The platform offers two interactive online courses, each accompanied by learning materials and knowledge tests, designed to strengthen preparedness and response capacities in emergency situations.
The Online First Aid Course provides essential life-saving skills for emergency situations, covering topics such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), wound care, and the management of common medical emergencies. Through easy-to-follow modules and video tutorials, participants gain the confidence and practical knowledge needed to respond effectively when emergencies occur.
The Online course in disaster preparedness focuses on preparing for potential disasters, and outlines the actions to take when emergencies arise. Participants learn how to assess risks, organise resources, and implement effective strategies to protect lives and property during natural and man-made disasters.
Course videos are available on YouTube with selectable subtitles, and additional learning materials are provided within the platform. At the end of each course, participants can test their knowledge through an online assessment.
The platform will remain freely accessible beyond the project’s duration. It is available to local public authorities, schools, universities, NGOs, and civil protection structures across all partner countries. The training modules and assessments will also be integrated into regular educational and community preparedness activities implemented by local Red Cross branches.
The IMPACT+ project, part of Interreg VI-B NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, aims to enhance the resilience of small communities in the Black Sea Basin region to emergency situations, whether caused by natural disasters or human-made crises. By promoting cross-border cooperation and implementing innovative solutions, the project contributes to risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and the improvement of rural communities’ emergency response capacities.
