Charlemagne Prize Fellowship proposes €20,000 per research project in Europe – Apply by 11 August

The 2024/25 Charlemagne Prize Fellowship is seeking talented junior researchers and policy experts under 35 years old.

The Charlemagne Prize Fellowship is an endowed one-year non-resident programme of the European Charlemagne Prize Academy, addressing European junior researchers, next-generation policy experts, innovators, and thought leaders who work toward a better European Union.

The Fellowship includes a stipend of €20,000 per research project. With the grant, Fellows are offered the opportunity to conduct an independent research project individually or in a group.

The Fellowship is open to all postgraduates with a citizenship of an EU member state as well as to everyone planning to reside in Europe during the implementation of the project. For example, if you have Armenian, Azerbaijani, Georgian, Belarusian, Moldovan or Ukrainian citizenship, and are implementing your project at a research institute in Italy, you are eligible to apply.

The deadline for applications is 11 August.

The Charlemagne Prize of Aachen is the oldest and best-known prize awarded for work done in the service of European unification. The prize is named after Charlemagne, the Frankish king revered by his contemporaries as the ‘Father of Europe’. The prize was founded in 1950 by Kurt Pfeiffer in Aachen, Germany, and is now supported by the European Investment Bank.
