Role of men in fatherhood during a full-scale war

This study, conducted by Info Sapiens in May 2023 for UNFPA Ukraine, examines how the full-scale war has influenced paternal involvement in childcare. Surveying 1,000 Ukrainian fathers, the research highlights that 75% continue to live with their children under 18, while 15% are separated due to the war. Notably, there’s an increased paternal engagement in daily childcare activities compared to 2020, including feeding, bathing, and changing diapers. Despite these positive trends, mothers remain the primary caregivers in most households. The study underscores the need for policies that support and encourage active fatherhood during times of crisis.
