This updated Country Gender Assessment builds on the 2018 baseline report to analyze gender dynamics in Georgia’s agriculture and rural development sectors. It reviews progress made over the past years while identifying persistent and emerging challenges, especially those affecting rural and young women. Using an agrifood systems lens, the assessment explores how climate change and external shocks impact gender equality in agriculture. While advancements have been made in sex-disaggregated data collection and analysis, significant sectoral gaps remain. The report highlights opportunities for strengthening women’s empowerment by showcasing good practices from FAO’s work in Georgia and concludes with targeted recommendations for FAO and its development partners.
