Assessment of gender policy of local self-government bodies in Georgia

Assessment of Gender Policy of Local Self-Government Bodies, with a Special Emphasis on Women’s Economic Empowerment. Public Defender’s Office assesses gender policies of local self-governing bodies in Georgia with a special emphasis on women’s economic empowerment. The assessment shows that in spite of a number of activities carried out in recent years by the local self-government bodies to improve gender equality, reflection on different gender needs, as well as development of action plans and programs addressing these needs are still challenging. The report develops recommendations directed towards the improvement of gender policies of self-government bodies, and towards strengthening the sustainability of local institutional mechanisms for gender equality.
