Ukrainian photographer among winners of 2025 Europol photo competition

Dmytro Haiduk from Ukraine is one of three winners of the 2025 Europol photo competition, the Agency announced on 19 November.

Together with photographers Johan Jacob Kleist from Denmark and Cláudio Alexandre from Portugal, Haiduk submitted a winning entry for Europol’s Capture25, this year’s edition of its annual photo competition.

The competition celebrates the hard work and dedication of law enforcement authorities across the European Union and abroad. This year, Europol received submissions from across the globe, showing the many ways that law enforcement officers actively work to make Europe safer.

Three awards were given out, each decided by a different group of voters: the international law enforcement community represented at Europol’s headquarters, members of the public, and the Heads of Communication of the European law enforcement authorities.

Dmytro Haiduk entered the favourite picture of the Heads of Communication of the European law enforcement authorities. His winning image shows ‘patrol officers rescuing people from a fire after shelling by Russian forces’.

The three winners win a trip for two to The Hague, including a visit to Europol’s headquarters. Their images also feature in Europol’s 2026 calendar and will be used in other Europol publications.
