‘Ukrainian children have the right to play on playgrounds in peace’, EU Ambassador says after Russian attack on Kryvyi Rih

“Now is not the time for drawing-room negotiations as if nothing happened. Russia does not shy away from killing children,” EU Ambassador Katarina Mathernova said on the occasion of the Day of Mourning for the victims of the Russian strikes on Kryvyi Rih on 4 April 2025.

This attack killed nine children, ten adults and injured seventy-five people.

The EU Delegation to Ukraine expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and its support to the people of Ukraine.

“Ukrainian children have the right to play on playgrounds in peace,” Mathernova posted on Facebook.

She added that Russia launched another massive strike on Sunday night, firing 23 ballistic missiles and 109 drones overnight, targeting Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy and Mykolaiv.
