Over 50 Young European Ambassadors join European Forum of Young Leaders in Poland

More than 50 Young European Ambassadors, including 20 from Ukraine, are taking part in the European Forum of Young Leaders, a three-day conference organised in Katowice, Poland from 25-27 April, on the sidelines of the European Economic Congress. The Forum brings together around 200 young European leaders from the EU and neighbouring countries, with panel discussions and thematic sessions on different important aspects of European youth cooperation, and a special focus on the situation of the Ukrainian youth.

The idea behind the Forum is to provide a space for enterprising young activists from the European Union, the Western Balkans, and the countries of the Eastern Partnership to share their experiences, engage in networking, and discuss issues of importance to young people across Europe. The three-day Forum will be attended by young activists from all over Europe as well as students from regional universities and entrepreneurs participating in the Congress.

“Russia’s aggression against Ukraine poses completely new challenges for Europe, the consequences of which we are not able to fully predict,” the organisers say. The context of all the sessions and workshops will therefore be the war and the possibilities of supporting Ukrainian society. “Our aim is also for the largest possible group of young leaders from Ukraine to participate in the Forum, in order to talk together about mobilising civil societies to counter the threats coming from Russia.

Other themes on the agenda will include the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the European Youth Strategy 2019-2027, as well as thematic priorities of the EU Youth Programmes 2021-2027, including inclusion and diversity, digital transformation, environment and the fight against climate change and participation in democratic life.
