Online home energy efficiency calculator launched in Moldova

In Moldova, household energy consumers have been provided with an online tool, a Home Energy Efficiency Calculator, which makes it easy and affordable to determine energy efficiency options.

The calculator is available on the website of the National Centre for Sustainable Energy and was developed within the framework of the programme implemented by UNDP Moldova ‘Addressing the impact of the energy crisis in the Republic of Moldova’, funded by the European Union.

With its help, users can identify the benefits of energy efficiency measures as well as the estimated costs of their implementation.

The Energy Efficiency Calculator allows for a four-step calculation of average energy consumption for heating, hot water and cooking in a household, regardless of its type and region. It takes into account location, description of the dwelling (building materials, heating system, surface area), heating and energy consumption details, and energy efficiency measures already implemented. The household consumer will also find out how heat losses are distributed in the home – through walls, windows, floors and roof.

The calculator also approximates the savings that could be made on energy bills by retrofitting your home.
