Moldova: EU support for better disinfection of public transport during the pandemic

Thanks to support from the European Union, Chișinău’s urban transport services will become even safer for passengers, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

By September this year, 340 city buses and trolleybuses will be equipped with 680 germicidal recirculators as part of the EU project ‘MOVE IT like Lublin’. The first 30 units of innovative equipment have already been installed.

Bactericidal recirculators will be installed in the low-circulation areas of public transport, and the effective action of ultraviolet light will quickly disinfect the air and protect the passengers.

The ‘MOVE IT like Lublin’ project, which will be implemented until 2025, is funded by the European Union and is based on a partnership between the city halls of Chișinău and the Polish city of Lublin.
