On 1 January, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine joined the EU ‘Roam Like at Home’ area.
This means that starting from the first day of 2026, citizens of both countries travelling in EU countries and EU citizens visiting Moldova or Ukraine, are able to make calls, send text messages, and use mobile internet with no additional charges, within the limits of their tariff plan – just like at home.
This became possible following the signing of the EU Council decisions regarding Moldova’s (on 25 July 2025) and Ukraine’s (15 July 2025) integration into the so-called Roam Like at Home area.
Within the EU, Roam Like at Home has been in place since 2017 and allows EU citizens travelling to other Member States to make calls, send messages, and use mobile data at the same costs and with the same network quality as at home.
