Livada Moldovei: EU helps modernise college in Gagauzia

More than 500 students at the Technical Agricultural College in Svetloye commune in Gagauzia, will now be able to study in modern conditions thanks to a new station, designed for processing vegetable products and servicing agricultural machinery, the EU Delegation to Moldova announced on Facebook on 17 December.

The new infrastructure includes two specialised laboratories: one for sorting and packaging horticultural products, equipped with a modern calibration and sorting line and an industrial cold storage room, and another for repairing and maintaining agricultural machinery.

The training complex is complemented by a three-hectare educational demonstration orchard with cherry, sweet cherry, apricot and apple trees, and a weather station.

A dormitory, which houses about 100 students and teachers, has also been modernised.

The investment of €1.3 million was made as part of the Livada Moldovei project, initiated by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, and financed with the support of the European Investment Bank (EIB).
