EU-funded regional Solidarity COVID-19 programme concludes its activity in Armenia

The EU-funded regional Solidarity COVID-19 programme concluded last week in Armenia with a public discussion on a draft state employment strategy. The document is being developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. 

Over the last two years, the programme, run by Czech non-governmental organistation People in Need, has supported more than 20 civil society organisations in Armenia to respond to the immediate and long-term consequences of the pandemic, offering solutions for continued employment in particular.

According to Silja Kasmann, Deputy Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation in Armenia, the European Union aimed to support the most vulnerable groups in Armenia through the COVID-19 solidarity programme, focusing on employment and social policies at different levels.

“Through our programmes, we engage with civil society on labour rights issues and believe that consultation with social partners and civil society organisations is vitally important for policy making on employment,” said Silja Kasmann.
