Young European Diplomats Club

Who we are

We are a group of high school students who want to understand what is happening in Europe. We started this club because we realised that decisions made in Brussels, though they feel distant, affect our daily lives. Our goal is to break down complex ideas and build a community where everyone’s opinion on our common future matters.

What do we do

  • Dive into the EU and global issues: We look at everything related to the European Union and the bigger global picture.
  • Real-life topics: We move beyond textbooks to discuss current issues like how AI is changing our lives and how to spot “deep fake” news.
  • Active involvement: We are active in organising school activities and joining European youth initiatives to ensure our voices are heard.

European institutions & EU policies

Our mission in Greece is to empower students with a clearer perspective on the world. Participants navigate the core institutions of the EU, including:

  • The European Commission, Parliament, and Council.
  • Specialised bodies like the ECB, Court of Justice, and Court of Auditors.

Students also gain a practical understanding of vital policies and initiatives, such as:

  • Media literacy and environmental protection.
  • Fundamental rights and obligations of European citizenship.
  • Flagship initiatives like the European Green Deal and EU Passenger Rights.

Learning about enlargement

A significant portion of our lessons is dedicated to the EU enlargement process. We discuss what it takes for a new country to join the family, focusing on shared values like democracy and peace. We explore how adding new members can make Europe stronger and more secure.

Exploring opportunities

We learn about the various opportunities the EU offers to young people, such as the Erasmus+ programme. These programmes allow us to travel, study, or volunteer in other countries, providing new experiences and cultural exchange. This highlights that being part of the EU means having the entire continent open for our future.
