This article analyses Ukrainian university admission data from 2022 to 2024, revealing a trend where top-performing female students in mathematics predominantly choose humanities over technical fields. Despite the critical need for engineers in Ukraine’s defence sector, gender stereotypes and societal norms continue to steer women away from STEM careers. The article discusses initiatives by defence companies and educational institutions aimed at encouraging more women to pursue technical and engineering professions to bolster national defence capabilities.
