Prejudice and Isolation. Social Distance Index

This report analyses societal attitudes toward marginalised and minority groups in Moldova using the Social Distance Index, based on the Bogardus scale. It assesses levels of acceptance across 13 groups, including persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and people living with HIV. Drawing on longitudinal data, the report identifies trends in social distance over time and highlights a deterioration in public attitudes in 2025. The findings point to increasing polarisation and persistent discrimination, emphasising the need for targeted policies and interventions to promote social inclusion and reduce stigma.
