The report assesses Moldova’s progress in implementing the commitments of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action over the past 30 years. It highlights advancements in gender equality, women’s empowerment and institutional reforms. Key areas discussed include improving women’s participation in politics, addressing gender-based violence, and promoting economic opportunities for women. It also identifies challenges, such as societal norms and limited resources, while emphasising the need to strengthen policies and practices to ensure sustainable gender equality.

The report focuses on the progress made in implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, alongside challenges encountered, during the 2020–2024 period. The report was prepared based on the analyses of sectoral reports and specialised institutions, as well as recommendations received during public consultations with various stakeholders, including civil society organisations. Thus, it identifies key trends and possible areas of intervention for the future. It reveals that the Government of the Republic of Moldova pays increased and continuous attention to the implementation of the commitments undertaken, following its accession to international treaties on human rights and gender equality, confirmed by guaranteeing the principle of equality through a series of organic and ordinary laws. Reiterating that a strong legal framework has been adopted to ensure gender equality and women’s empowerment, the implementation of legal provisions and normative documents requires continuous strengthening.
