Good practice guide for employees of the penitentiary system. Ensuring the answer to the special needs of women in detention

This Good Practice Guide was developed with the aim of strengthening the response capacity of prison system employees to the special needs of women and girls deprived of their liberty.

The guide can be used by representatives of the criminal justice system, decision makers, prison managers, prison staff, members of non-governmental organizations, professionals and other people interested or active in the field of criminal justice and prison reform, both as a manual of training, as well as a reference document for identifying the degree of alignment with international standards. The information presented can inspire good practice and policy change in the field to improve the situation of women and girls in detention, as well as their children.
