Country Gender Profile of the Republic of Moldova

This Country Gender Profile (CGP) of the Republic of Moldova examines a spectrum of social, political, economic issues through a gender lens, using available data, case studies, surveys and other evidence. Its purpose is to help
guide the EU Delegation to Moldova’s support for the Government in terms of integrating and mainstreaming gender, in order to maximise efforts on gender equality and poverty reduction. The key gender issues covered by the document are aligned with the EU Gender Action Plan III (GAP) and the Republic of Moldova’s National Plan for Gender Equality. It includes a description of the national context, Moldova’s legal and institutional framework, gender analysis by sectors, and an assessment of the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on women and men. The last chapter provides key findings and recommendations for the development of the Country Level Implementation Plan (CLIP) to support the Government of Moldova and civil society.

This Country Gender Profile was prepared by the EU4Gender Equality Reform Helpdesk project, funded by the European Union and implemented by Niras. Its content is the sole responsibility of NIRAS and does not necessarily reflect the views of the European Union.
