War in Ukraine: EU imposes additional sanctions against Russia and Belarus


The EU has agreed to further tighten sanctions in response to Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen tweeted on 9 March.

According to von der Leyen, the new restrictive measures will hit:

• 160 individuals: oligarchs, Russian Federation Council members

• Belarus banking sector

• Export of maritime navigation technology to Russia

• Adding crypto-assets
