The European Union and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine have opened a photo exhibition ‘They Rescue. They Care. They Protect’ at Blockbuster Mall in Kyiv.
Running from 2 to 21 December, the exhibition spotlights the courage and resilience of Ukraine’s emergency service workers, medics, psychologists, police officers, and energy specialists who work relentlessly to protect people, restore vital services, and support communities during wartime.
Through portraits and personal stories, the exhibition reveals the human faces behind rescue operations, medical care, psychological support, and infrastructure repairs. Each image tells a story of determination and empathy — of individuals who act decisively when danger strikes.
“Every day, emergency responders demonstrate extraordinary bravery and compassion,”
said Stefan Schleuning, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Ukraine. “Through this exhibition, we honour their service and reaffirm the EU’s dedication to strengthening Ukraine’s ability to withstand and rebuild. Their work is not only about saving lives, but also about preserving hope and dignity.”
The exhibition is organised under the flagship ‘EU4Recovery – Empowering Communities in Ukraine’ partnership between the EU and UNDP.
