Philippines donates 40 portable power generators to support communities in Ukraine through rescEU donation scheme

The EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM), through its rescEU donations scheme, facilitating assistance from international donors to Ukraine, will help to deliver 40 portable power generators (6 kW class) to Ukraine, donated by the Republic of the Philippines, the EU Delegation to the Philippines announced on 20 May.

This assistance aims at providing critical back-up electricity to civilian communities and essential non-military infrastructure amid ongoing energy challenges. The generators, supplied by Highball Traders Inc., will help to stabilise power supply for hospitals, schools, and other civilian facilities affected by disruptions to Ukraine’s energy grid.

The shipment will travel from the Philippines to the  Polish port of Gdansk, where it will be received by the Governmental Strategic Reserves Agency of Poland (RARS) for onward delivery to Ukraine.

rescEU is a strategic reserve of European disaster response capabilities and stockpiles, fully funded by the EU as part of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and related needs within the country and the surrounding region, the EU has deployed medical evacuation services as well as assistance from its rescEU energy, shelter, medical and CBRN stockpiles hosted in various locations across the EU. It also encompasses power generators to help Ukrainians meet their basic needs and thousands of shelters to host those displaced by the war across the country.
