‘More EU in Armenia’ kicks off with dialogue between EU Delegation and Young European Ambassadors

On 12 April, a nationwide outreach week, ‘More EU in Armenia’, kicked off in Yerevan with an event led by Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) from Armenia and the European Union.

The event featured an open dialogue with Tereza Vorlova, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. and Head of the Political, Press and Information Section at the EU Delegation to Armenia. It brought together more than 50 Young European Ambassadors, including participants from Armenia as well as YEAs from Germany, Spain, Greece, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, fostering cross-border dialogue and exchange between young people from EU Member States and Armenia.

Addressing the participants, Tereza Vorlova spoke about the importance of youth engagement in strengthening EU-Armenia relations:

“Young people are not only the future of EU-Armenia relations, they are already an important part of its present. Their engagement, ideas, and energy play a key role in bringing our societies closer together.”

During this week, YEAs from Armenia and the EU will carry out a series of activities in Yeghegnadzor, Goris, and Aparan, highlighting the message of ‘More EU in Armenia’ through visits to universities, NGOs, EuroClubs and EU-funded initiatives. The series of events aims to ensure that young people across Armenia better understand EU-Armenia relations, with developments such as the EU-Armenia Strategic Agenda and the launch of the visa liberalisation dialogue, and engage with the opportunities arising from EU-Armenia cooperation.

The Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) initiative is a non-political, voluntary, communication network connecting young people from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and the EU Member States and the United Kingdom. The aim of the network is to raise awareness about the EU’s cooperation with its Eastern partner countries, showcase the tangible results of this cooperation, contribute to policy dialogue, increase civic activism, and work together for a better future. The YEAs initiative was created by the European Union in 2016 and has so far involved more than 2,500 young people from over 30 different countries.
