On 20 May, Roberto Viola, Director-General for DG CONNECT (the Directorate‑General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission), and Doina Nistor, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalisation of the Republic of Moldova, concluded an amendment to Moldova’s Digital Europe Programme association agreement.
The amendment will allow Moldova access to the EU Cybersecurity Reserve, an initiative under the Cyber Solidarity Act, designed to make Europe more resilient and reactive to cyber threats. Moldova’s access will be subject to the requirements set out in the Act.
The Cybersecurity Reserve consists of trusted providers that can intervene in case of a significant or large-scale cybersecurity attack at the request of a member state or EU institutions, agencies and bodies.
“Moldova’s inclusion reflects its deepening cooperation with the EU in the area of cybersecurity,” the European Commission said in a press release.
Moldova’s Association Agreement to the Digital Europe Programme has been in force since 1 January 2024. From that date, eligible Moldovan organisations can participate in calls for proposals under the Digital Europe Programme, and take part in projects to implement digital technologies in the EU.
