On 11-12 February 2026, 14 mayors and vice-mayors from the Republic of Moldova participated in a workshop entitled ‘Mayors – Leaders of Transformative Changes’, organised under the European Union-funded Mayors for Economic Growth (M4EG) initiative and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Held simultaneously in Orhei, Kyiv, Skopje and Yerevan, the workshop brought together municipal leaders from Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Kosovo. The training focused on strengthening leadership, communication and collaboration skills, while equipping local authorities with tools to address economic resilience, green transition, digital transformation, social inclusion and energy challenges.
“As mayor, I know that people expect quick fixes, but I’ve realised that some challenges require more: changing the way we think and collaborate,” said Oleg Garizan, mayor of Copceac. “The workshop gave me clarity and confidence that we can build together a more resilient and future-ready community.”
Launched in 2017 and implemented by UNDP since 2021, the Mayors for Economic Growth initiative supports municipalities across the Eastern Partnership region in building resilient, inclusive and future-ready communities through stronger local leadership and strategic development.
