Sixty interns from EU-Moldova Joint Internship Programme meet with EU and Danish Ambassadors

The 60 young interns participating in the European Union-Government of the Republic of Moldova Joint Internship Programme have completed their induction period and are now actively involved in the daily work of the institutions where they are carrying out their internships.

On this occasion, they met with the Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Iwona Piórko, and the Ambassador of Denmark to the Republic of Moldova, Søren Jensen, to discuss their first experiences as interns and learn about the career paths of the two diplomats.

The discussion also focused on the European future of the Republic of Moldova and the role that young people can play in the country’s EU integration process. The interns asked questions about the development of alternative energy sources, including nuclear energy, how better to communicate the benefits of European integration, ways to promote urban development beyond the capital, measures to counter disinformation more effectively, and how the country’s accession to the European Union can be accelerated.

During the discussion, Ambassador Piórko spoke about her role as a strong supporter of the Republic of Moldova while also being a constructive and critical partner when necessary. Ambassador Jensen shared Denmark’s own experience, highlighting lessons learned throughout the country’s development and European integration, as well as mistakes that can be avoided.

The meeting gave the interns an opportunity to engage directly with two European diplomats, gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges of the EU integration process, and strengthen their motivation to contribute to the development of the Republic of Moldova.
