Head of European External Action Service visits Ukraine

On 16-17 February, the Secretary-General of the European External Action Service (EEAS), the EU’s diplomatic service, Belén Martínez Carbonell visited Kyiv, “to convey our full support for the brave people of Ukraine”.

In Kyiv, she met with representatives of Ukraine’s Parliament, the energy and defence sectors, civil society,  and the EU Advisory Mission to Ukraine (EUAM). Her main message was: “The EU stands firmly with Ukraine – supporting its resilience, defence and European future.”

Belen also met with the staff of the EU Delegation to Ukraine.

“Everyone is exhausted and chilled to the bone, needs and deserves encouragement. This winter feels particularly long and harsh. Every day we work for Ukraine – helping, supporting, organising. But support from Brussels colleagues means a lot to us,” EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mahernova posted on Facebook.
