Head of DG ENEST Koopman: ‘Good to be in Chișinău at a key moment for Moldova’s EU path’


On 24 July, Gert Jan Koopman, Head of the Directorate-General for Enlargement and the Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST) at the European Commission, visited Chișinău, Moldova.

The EU high official held meetings with Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and the Deputy Prime Ministers of the Government of the Republic of Moldova.

Discussions focused on the Republic of Moldova’s European path and the Growth Plan, which aims to accelerate reforms, attract investment and promote the country’s economic and social development.

Good to be in Chișinău at a key moment for Moldova’s EU path,” Gert Jan Koopman posted on X. “I extended my best wishes to Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and, with President Maia Sandu and the new government, discussed the importance of sustaining reforms, boosting growth through the EU Growth Plan and the next steps in accession.” 

Director-general Koopman also reaffirmed the European Union’s support for the Republic of Moldova’s progress towards European integration, ensuring tangible results for its citizens.
