The EU Delegation to Azerbaijan has organised several events as part of ongoing ‘For Our Planet. Safe water, Fresh air, Clean Soil, Green energy’ campaign.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about the protection of natural resources in the lead-up to COP29. It also promotes the EU’s policies and strategies for the management of natural resources and climate action.
On 23-25 October, a three-day training session on energy efficiency and sustainability took place at the EU Centre of Excellence at ADA University in Baku. The programme was co-organised by the European Union Delegation and ADA University, and Jean Monnet Module. Special discussions were held in the context of Azerbaijan’s role as the host of COP29 this year. The keynote speaker, Florian Kitt, Senior Energy Specialist at the World Bank, highlighted the contribution of the EU-supported AZTAF project to Azerbaijan’s energy efficiency sector.
Another recent discussion at ADA University focused on the impact of urbanisation. This event was held for students from ADA University’s School of Agricultural and Food Sciences, a programme run in collaboration with the University of Bologna as part of the wider Italy-Azerbaijan initiative.
Students were introduced to the ‘For Our Planet’ campaign and had the opportunity to pitch their ideas and videos about urban gardening. The idea was to generate new ideas on how to increase green spaces and encourage small scale agriculture in urban areas. The finalist students will now work with the EU Delegation to produce short videos as part of the campaign.
