European Endowment for Democracy approves emergency assistance programme for our Ukrainian partners

The EU-supported independent ‘European Endowment for Democracy’ (EED) has approved an emergency assistance programme for its Ukrainian partners.

This package includes emergency funding and a top-up fund for grantees to cover additional needs such as re-location and security. This assistance will help them continue and adapt their activities.

In addition, grants that were due to conclude have been automatically extended.

“EED stands in solidarity with our many partners and friends in Ukraine as the devastating Russian land, sea and air attack continues into a second day. Ukraine has been central to EED’s grant making since our establishment in 2013 and we have partners in most regions of the country,” says a press release by the EED.

As the situation evolves, the EED says it will continue to adapt its response to this crisis to best support the partners.

The European Endowment for Democracy (EED) was established in 2013 by the European Union (EU) and EU member states as an autonomous International Trust Fund to foster democracy in the European Neighbourhood, including the Eastern Partnership. The EED supports civil society organisations, pro-democracy movements, civic and political activists, and independent media platforms and journalists working towards a pluralistic, democratic political system.
