Last week, the EU Delegation to Armenia launched a new initiative, the Youth Advisory Council (YAC).
The launch event, held on 7 March in Yerevan, brought together young people from across Armenia, youth workers, and government representatives. The event introduced the YAC initiative, its goals, activities, and the process behind its establishment. Participants engaged in group discussions, offering their ideas and suggestions for the YAC’s activities.
In his speech, EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos emphasised the crucial role of youth in policy making, and the importance of making their voices heard and valued.
Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia, Artur Martirosyan, welcomed the initiative and highlighted the newly adopted Youth Policy Law, which the EU Delegation to Armenia called a “significant step forward for youth empowerment”.
The initiative will be implemented as part of the EU-funded project ‘Support in Cultural and Youth Activities’ and is supported through a contract with the Goethe-Zentrum Yerevan.
