EU invests almost $7 million in UNDP energy and biomass projects in Moldova

To date, the EU has invested US $6,949,381 in 112 energy and biomass projects in Moldova in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), according to the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova.

A total of 225 kindergartens, schools, community and cultural centres have been equipped with biomass heating systems thanks to EU financial support; 47 of them have also been given access to hot water through solar installations.

In addition, through the Green Growth Fund, €2.6 million has so far been invested in 352 sub-loans, resulting in savings of 46,969 MWh per year.

According to the EU Delegation, the renovation of heating systems in residential buildings in Chisinau and Balti is one of five landmark priorities in which the European Union will invest in the coming years.
