Ahead of the first-ever EU-Armenia Summit, the European Commission Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia have signed an Administrative Arrangement on cooperation in the field of civil protection.
According to a press release by the EU Delegation to Armenia, the document marks “a major step forward strengthening disaster resilience” and “opens a new phase of collaboration in civil protection, strengthening emergency response, information exchange, and capacity building”.
The Administrative Arrangement includes:
“This Administrative Arrangement reflects our strong partnership with Armenia,” said the Director-General of DG ECHO, Maciej Popowski. “It lays the groundwork for closer cooperation and shared learning in the area of civil protection.”
He added that the EU remained committed to supporting Armenia in building a more resilient civil protection system, which benefits not only Armenia but the wider region.
