Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival takes place in Kyiv

Last week, Kyiv’s historic Zhovten Cinema hosted the opening of the 22nd Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.

Promoting civic courage, the festival once again united filmmakers, activists and audiences committed to human rights.

The EU has supported Docudays UA since 2018, providing over €1.2 million to bring the Travelling Docudays UA programme across Ukraine, build a nationwide DOCU/CLUB network of human rights film clubs, and launch the Ukraine War Archive. This secure digital repository now holds over 20 million pieces of evidence of crimes committed during Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine.

Addressing the audience, Rémi Duflot, the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, explained why the EU stands with Ukraine’s documentary community: “The EU and Ukraine are united by common values, and by supporting cultural initiatives such as Docudays UA, we honour those values and recognise the unique cultural heritage and resilience of the Ukrainian people.”

The festival runs in Kyiv until 13 June.
