Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi visits Ukraine


On 26-27 January, the Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, visits Kyiv to accentuate the EU’s commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and to support its socio-economic resilience.

This visit follows the announcement of a new financial assistance package for Ukraine, by President von der Leyen.

During Várhelyi’s visit discussions will focus on the benefits of the EU’s Economic and Investment Plan for the Eastern Partnership,the implementation of reforms  and Ukraine’s further integration with the EU on the basis of the Association Agreement. 

The Commissioner will participate in a meeting of the Ukrainian Government’s Coordination Commission for the Implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and will hold bilateral meetings with Ukrainian authorities, representatives of civil society and national minorities. 

His trip also includes a visit to the Memorial Wall dedicated to the victims of the Revolution of Dignity and conflict in eastern Ukraine, as well as to the Babyn Yar memorial site to commemorate the Holocaust. He will also take part in the launch of the Natolin4Capacity Building project.
