On 7 April, Europe MediaLab, in collaboration with the Moldovan residents of Maison du Médialab, hosted a special cultural gathering in Brussels dedicated to Moldovan heritage, bringing together diplomats, policymakers, media stakeholders and journalists.
A highlight of the evening was the participation of Marta Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Cristina Gherasimov, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of Moldova, and Dan Barna Romanian MEP, who joined the preparation of traditional plăcinte cu brânză — Moldovan cheese pies that symbolise hospitality and community spirit.
The Mission of Moldova to the EU was represented by Ambassador Daniela Morari. The event also welcomed Viorel Cibotaru, Ambassador of Moldova to Belgium and NATO.
In her remarks, Commissioner Marta Kos expressed strong support for Moldova’s European path and announced that she would be spending Europe Day, 9 May, in Moldova, highlighting the country’s importance in the EU’s enlargement strategy.
Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov highlighted the significance of cultural diplomacy in Moldova’s integration process, while Member of the European Parliament Dan Barna spoke about the value of people-to-people connections in strengthening EU partnerships.
Located near the Parc du Cinquantenaire in Brussels, Maison du MediaLab serves as a space for intercultural dialogue and media innovation at the crossroads.
