EU leaders on their way to Kyiv

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU High Representative Josep Borrell are on their way to Kyiv today. They are accompanied by Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger.

The EU leaders are due to have talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ahead of the Stand Up for Ukraine donor’s conference in Warsaw on 9 April.

The speaker of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, visited Kyiv last week.

Slovak Prime Minister Heger tweeted that today’s meeting would involve proposals to help Ukraine’s European perspective by creating a reform team, and to offer options for helping transporting Ukrainian grain, including wheat.
