Armenia: new 24-month Preparedness Action launched in Syunik and Vayots Dzor

On 20 July, the Armenian Government, the European Union, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and other partners launched a new 24-month Preparedness Action.

The Action is co-funded by the European Commission’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations department (DG ECHO).

It will support preparations in 12 communities of Syunik and Vayots Dzor. The support will include enhanced national and local coordination, improved public warning and early-action systems, and community-level training and resources.

“This €1 million initiative, co-funded by the EU Humanitarian Aid, builds on past achievements—like updated disaster plans, emergency supplies, and digital tools—to ensure communities are ready to respond effectively and can build resilience for a safer future,” says a Facebook post by the EU Delegation to Armenia.
