The Unpaid Household Work Satellite Account of Georgia – Final Report (April 2025), published by UN Women Georgia, presents a comprehensive analysis of the economic value of unpaid household labour in Georgia. Utilising time-use survey data and satellite accounting methods aligned with the System of National Accounts (SNA), the report quantifies the contribution of unpaid domestic and caregiving activities — tasks traditionally excluded from GDP calculations. The study reveals that unpaid household work constitutes a significant portion of Georgia’s economy, with women performing the majority of these tasks. By assigning monetary value to activities such as cooking, cleaning, and caregiving, the report highlights the substantial, yet often overlooked, economic impact of unpaid labour. This analysis underscores the gender disparities in the distribution of unpaid work and advocates for policy interventions that recognize and support unpaid labour. Recommendations include the development of gender-sensitive economic policies, investment in social infrastructure, and the integration of unpaid work metrics into national economic planning.
