The harmful practice of early/childhood marriage in Georgia – existing challenges and solutions

The Office of the Public Defender of Georgia conducted the study in cooperation with the Center for Democracy and Governance, supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Government of Sweden.

The study examines the policy of state agencies in the prevention, elimination and response to early/child marriage. It evaluates the current prevalence of child marriage, the effectiveness of the protection and assistance measures used, and the effectiveness of the judiciary’s response to crimes committed with the motive of child marriage.
