Young European Ambassadors conduct interactive workshop on EU-funded opportunities for young Ukrainians living in Germany

On 17 January, in Bremen, Germany, four Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) from Ukraine conducted an offline interactive workshop on EU-funded opportunities for young Ukrainians aged 14–30 living in Germany.

The event was held by YEAs Maryna Sabashenko, Sofiia Muraviova, Mariana Melnyk, and Valeriia Machulska in cooperation with the European Solidarity Corps volunteer at the Bremen Parliament Yuliia Kapelka and the Ukrainian Youth Club in Bremen at the Unity Center UA.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness among young Ukrainians affected by the war about educational, professional, mobility, and civic engagement opportunities funded by the European Union. It was also an opportunity to promote the activities of the EU NEIGHBOURS EAST programme and the Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) initiative.

During the event, around 50 young participants had the opportunity to learn more about a wide range of EU-funded programmes, including Erasmus+ youth exchanges and training courses, Erasmus+ academic exchanges, Erasmus Mundus, the European Solidarity Corps, internships at EU institutions, Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs, DiscoverEU, Euroschool, Study Tours to Poland, Euroclubs, Euroquiz, and the EU4Youth Alumni Network.

The programme also included Q&A sessions, networking breaks, and an interactive Kahoot quiz.

The workshop was attended by more than 50 young people who were able to ask questions directly to the speakers, share their experiences, and receive practical guidance on how to apply for EU-funded opportunities.

The coordinator of the event, Maryna Sabashenko shared the following: «I feel that it’s important to inform young Ukrainians living in Germany about EU-funded opportunities because the war interrupted their plans, and access to these programmes helps them regain direction, integrate, and actively shape their future».

«For many young Ukrainians in Germany, EU-funded opportunities are a bridge from uncertainty to stability — they provide education, skills, and a sense of belonging within the European community», said Yuliia Kapelka, co-coordinator of the workshop.

«Their enthusiasm and request for more such initiatives showed us how important it is to continuously support them, help them integrate, and open doors to EU opportunities. Investing in young people today means building a stronger, more inclusive Europe tomorrow», concluded Sofiia Muraviova, the Board Member of Ukrainian YEAs chapter

The Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) initiative brings together socially engaged young people from the EU, the United Kingdom, and the six Eastern Partnership countries to strengthen dialogue, raise awareness about the European Union and its values, and promote cooperation between the EU and its neighbouring regions.
