The Ukrainian Health Ministry has updated the State Register of Medicines, bringing it in line with EU standards. The updated version includes information on almost 16,500 medicines, which was analysed and checked before being migrated into the new register.
The register, among other things, contains information on medicines, pharmaceutical ingredients, and also allows data exchanges with other systems. This is one of the key tools used in the work of responsible bodies, such as the Health Ministry, and is also available to citizens.
Updating the register will help to bring it into line with EU requirements for information systems in the field of healthcare and prepare the way for the mutual international recognition of electronic prescriptions.
The creation of the new register functionality and the migration of data from the old one were carried out by the Health Ministry with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine, with funding from the governments of Germany and Sweden.
“Ensuring transparency and efficiency in the sphere of circulation of medicines in Ukraine is an important priority,” said Deputy Health Minister for Digital Development Mariia Karchevych. “The implementation of the updated version of the registry of medicines is an important step in this direction.”
