Moldova: EU launches new project in Ungheni to boost growth through tourism


On 30 June, the European Union launched a new project in Ungheni, Moldova, to support economic growth and tourism development in the region.

Hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions in the Ungheni region will be available on an special online platform created with the support of the EU.

A Tourist Information Centre will also be set up as part of the project, and there will be a permanent exhibition of regional producers’ products and craftsmen’s handicrafts.

A new project, ‘Sustainable Activity for Economic Growth through Tourism’, will be implemented by Ungheni City Hall in partnership with the Public Association ‘Regional Centre for Sustainable Development’. 

The total budget of the initiative is €762,000, 90% of which is a grant provided by the European Union.
