Georgia: High Representative Borrell meets Prime Minister Garibashvili

On 18 May, EU High Representative Josep Borrell met Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in Brussels.

Borrell recalled the EU’s support to strengthen Georgia’s resilience in the context of the unprovoked and unjustified Russian invasion of Ukraine. He also reaffirmed the EU’s firm commitment to Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognised borders.

Borrell also stressed the EU’s determination to bring the country even closer to the European Union.

“We are keen to work together on a joint European future and assist in advancing the needed reforms, especially the judiciary,” wrote Borerell on Twitter, adding that this is key to overcoming polarisation and uniting political forces.
